Poem

Fish Quay

Fish wives widowed
Docks dried up
North Shields Fish Quay
Shut up shop

Hustle and bustle
That was before
Lights high and low
Shine no more

The Tyne looks bare
Not a boat in sight
Even the fish
Know of our plight

Tangled nets
Discarded fish hooks
Our poor North Shields
Where nobody looks

But hark!

The Tyne swells
It heard our alarms
Welcomed by the piers
Like opened arms

The boats are manned
Black Middens are tamed
The nets and hooks
Can be reclaimed

And up on the bank
Vice Admiral looks on
Seen so much
Has our favorite son

Now full of life
North Shields Fish Quay
Proud once again
For all to see
