Where new writing finds its voice

About us

Welcome to the new Pen Pusher Magazine

Pen Pusher began way back in the darkness of Christmas 2005 when the editor, Anna Goodall, decided to start a literary magazine that published the best new poetry and fiction, encouraged talented authors and poets, was a beautiful design object in its own right, and wasn’t averse to a bit of silliness and a few rubbish jokes…

All three founding members of PP – Hape, Anna & Felicity – met whilst working at a publishing company, and after a few pub visits, favours from friends and a little bit of elbow grease, the first slim issue of the literary quarterly was published in April 2006.

We went on to publish eleven issues of PP as a free publication, all the time building up a loyal readership, publishing incredible new writing, and getting to know some of the bigger names on the literary scene, as well as dabbling in a few literary events ourselves.

With the relaunch we are able to bring you a much more substantial publication, and this interactive website that will keep growing and improving over the coming months (so keep your eyes peeled). We will also be running more events, competitions, and appearing at some prestigious literary festivals and events in 2009.

You may have noticed our tagline: ‘Where new writing finds its voice’. Pen Pusher has always been about giving talented writers a place to shine. With the relaunch of PP’s magazine and website, we’re hoping that we will be able to provide an even better home for the very best new writing.
